Rhythmic Gymnastics Stars Yana Kudryavtseva, Margarita Mamun To Compete at Minsk World Cup

After recently making a clean sweep of World Cup titles at the Tashkent World Cup, the three-time World all-around champion Yana Kudryavtseva will compete against top rhythmic gymnasts at the BSB Bank Minsk Cup, which is scheduled to take place this weekend.

Calling Kudryavtseva’s 2016 World Cup debut’s promising is an understatement to her performance in Tashkent, where she acquired career-high scores and proved herself worthy of the title “Queen of Rhythmic Gymnastics.”

This weekend, however, the “Angel with Iron Wings” will have to face her strongest rival, in the form of her teammate Margarita Mamun. Mamun, who is known as Kudryavtseva’s best buddy in addition to being the reigning World hoop title holder and All-around silver medalist, is competing at her second World Cup competition in this season.

Another strong competitor is her younger teammate Aleksandra Soldatova, who, for her part, already acquired two World Cup titles earlier this year.

A number of European gymnasts are also expected to participate in the competition, including three-time World bronze medalist Melitina Staniouta and 2015 European silver medalist Katsiaryna Halkina of Belarus, two-time Olympian Neta Rivkin of Israel and standouts Bulgarian gymnast Neviana Vladinova, Spanish gymnast Carolina Rodriguez, Finnish athlete Ekaterina Volkova, and Laura Zeng of USA are all expected to take part this weekend.

The Belarussian Group is also expected to please the home crowd with their amazing performances in the Minsk Sports Palace as it competes for the Group gold against the reigning World champion Russia and a strong competitor Italy.

The BSB Bank Minsk World Cup will take place at the Minsk Palace of Sports on 20th to 22nd of May, 2016.
